Jan 15th - Tuesday
Speaker: Jeffrey Diehm - Co-Founder, Avonix Imaging

Topic: Reasonable Expectations

A presentation on the real-world disparity between our expectations of how a product should perform
and the factors that could impact how it actually does perform. Industrial X-ray and CT (computed tomography)
play a role in whether or not our reasonable expectations are being met based on how an item is made.
You'll see X-ray imaging examples comparing products such as an Apple iPhone cord charger compared to an
off-brand version. Is it worth it to pay more for the name brand option?

Bio:
Jeffrey Diehm has been working in the industrial x-ray imaging and computed tomography (CT) sector for over 30 years.
He attended the Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology and later The University of St. Thomas for Business Management.
After moving to Southern California and working as an X-ray Lab Lead at General Dynamics Space Systems Division, and then
WMW Associates, Diehm relocated to Minnesota and worked at North Star Imaging. He was first hired as a Technical Sales Representative
and then was chosen to develop their Inspection Services department as the Inspection Services and Applications Manager.
He grew the department from inception to its position as an industry leader when he departed.

In 2012, Diehm, along with co-founder Brian Ruether, started Avonix Imaging. Today, Avonix Imaging builds and installs large
format CT systems for their strategic partner Nikon Metrology. In addition, the company provides industrial 3D CT and X-ray
contract services for customers throughout North America. Among other systems, their lab hosts the only 225/450 system in the
USA for inspection services. It features a Nikon 225kV microfocus X-ray source and a proprietary 450kV microfocus rotating target
X-ray source.

The company is dedicated to continuing to develop innovative products to best serve a wide variety of industries who require the
best CT imaging possible.

Feb 19th - Tuesday
Speaker: Marc Dubois - HaroTek, LLC

Topic: Low Cost Software Development for Ultrasonic Phased-Array Applications using LabVIEW.

A phased-array ultrasonic software development toolkit is available to rapidly customize
data acquistion and processing from phased-array systems. This presentation will describe
the toolkit, show examples, and demonstrate how the toolkit makes ultrasonic
phased-array application develoment easy.

Bio:
Dr. Dubois obtained his Ph.D. from University of Montreal on laser generation of ultrasound
in composite materials. At the completion of his degree, he joined the National Research Council
of Canada where he developed laser-ultrasonic techniques for the characterization of steel
microstructure and kinetics at high temperatures. In 1998 he joined the General Electric Company
at its research center in New York where he led efforts to advance technologies for the laser-
ultrasonic inspection of composites for the aeronautic industry in collaboration with Lockheed
Martin Aeronautics. In 2014 he founded HarTeck LLC that offers programming services and products
for augmented reality and phased-array ultrasonic applicaiton sbased on National Instruments
programming environment, LabVIEW. Dr. Dubois has contributed numerous technical papers and patents.

Mar 19th - Tuesday
